Joe Mierzwa has been writing since childhood, when he won an award for a poem he wrote for his grade school newspaper. He received his BA degree in the Honors English program from the University of Kansas. Joe has written for regional and national publications, including the Kansas City Star Magazine and Harper's Weekly. He has a rich and diverse business background, having worked in retail management, real estate, book publishing, and advertising. A graduate of the University of Kansas Law School, Joe was named Director of Communications Programs for Hyatt Legal Services, which at the time was the nation's largest law firm. Joe's duties included supervising the writing and editing of the Reader's Digest Legal Question and Answer Book, one of the best selling consumer legal guides of all time. He also helped create training materials for the firm's attorneys and legal assistants, as well as contributing to the firm's direct mail advertising and creating the firm's first client newsletter. After leaving Hyatt Legal Services, Joe continued his relationship with Reader's Digest, originating and writing two additional best selling legal guides for the company, Reader's Digest Legal Problem Solver and Fight Back and Win! Joe's writing experience isn't limited to consumer legal guides. He's helped many authors write, publish and promote their books, as well as consulting with businesses large and small on how to communicate effectively with their clients and customers.
